I realize I've been posting videos and links to songs like crazy lately but there's a reason for that. Music is a huge part of my life: listening to it, playing it, writing it...I don't understand how some people could dislike music. That's unfathomable to me!
I love the feeling and experience you get when a song you hear seems to bring your soul alive. Do you know what I'm talking about? If you're a fan of melody AT ALL, then you know what I'm talking about.
All this being said, I had a very musical weekend.
Yesterday I was looking up more songs by Kim Walker and I found this one: I Have Found. I love everything about this song. This is one of those songs I was referring to before. Just the first few notes immediately catch my attention and provoke me to drop everything just to soak it all in while I can. I get totally lost in this song! I fell in love with it so quickly, in fact, that I actually got out my guitar in the few spare minutes I had before meeting someone for lunch, and tried my best to learn it. It's actually a very easy song to play, chord-wise, but the strumming pattern is hard for me to get right now.
I also watched an entire disc of American Dreams too. I even got my roommate to watch some with me after church today. (If you don't know this show, I actually have some pictures of it in my righthand sidebar). It was my favorite television show when it was on air. I can't believe that was seven years ago already! It was a fictional show of a fictional American family but it was set in Philadelphia and one of the biggest themes of the show is music and American Bandstand which, if you don't know, was a real tv show of the 1960's (that continued into the 70's I think..if I remember my research well enough). Dick Clark was the host of that show and it was pretty much the original 'Total Request Live' only so much better because it had awesome songs and performances on it from singers of the 60's! That's my era completely when it comes to music! Talk about getting lost in song! - when I hear music from that time period, it's like I get caught by an undertow and swept into sea! Oh yes, oldies music is my kind of medicine for a bad day!
Oh! And one more thing in the same vein of music and television- are you watching American Idol this season? If not, you should because I actually know one of the people on it for once! His name is Jon Stills and he's from around here (where I recently moved to) and he goes to my church. He'll be going to Hollywood, if he hasn't already, - I don't really know how the taping schedule really is - and he can't say anything to us at all either so that's no help. But he and his mom were sitting near me in church today which reminded me that I haven't posted about him yet on here. The whole town is so excited for him and proud of him. Everywhere I go I hear people talking about it. If he makes it to the real competition, vote for him! (please) :)

Haha More power to you! Drop by my blog sometime. I just started it, but my purpose is to feature the artists and music that I think need more attention. ahaha
