buyer's remorse

I just bought 8 movies.

A Blockbuster near my dad's house is moving its location so it put up all of its merchandise up for sale.

As you can imagine, my dad and I ran amuck throughout the aisles filling our arms to overflowing with movie after hilarious movie with the same enthusiasm as any kid left alone in a candy store would have. (when I say "my dad and I" I really just mean me)

I felt really great about it all, until at the counter I was told that the 99c sticker on each movie was referring to the rental price, only.

My dad being the smarter, more grown-up and logical adult, gracefully gave up everything he'd chosen while I just did my best to thin out my huge stack from 1 billion down to 8.

80+ dollars later (and that's no exaggeration) I'm being eaten alive by guilt.
But, with "all sales final" being their motto of the day, all that's left for me to do is continually list off the reasons I should give myself a break:

1. I used Christmas money to buy them.
2. Absolutely no one bought me ANY DVDs this year for Christmas.
3. A majority of the movies were less than 10 dollars.
4. I can count on one hand the number of times I've splurged in the last 2 years.
5. I'm starting a new job in 2 weeks with a much higher pay rate!

Those are some pretty great reasons to just relax!

I rarely splurge, myself. So I understand. But...I also got Christmas money, and I am going to the mall tomorrow, where there is a Bath and Body Works and a 99 Cent City. I'm already battling myself on the inside.

Congratulations on your new job. Where are you working? Are you gonna be doing this along with BASIC Central or after you leave?

above all else: Love said...
