I bought a book recently off of Amazon called Save the Assistants by Lilit Marcus. I've only read the first 30 or so pages, but so far I am loving it!
It was originally a website that Lilit and her friend started as an outlet to express all the crazy things that people go through as assistants in an office. Overtime it blew up in a good way and so many people were sending in their own stories (the good, the bad and the horrendous) so she decided to compile some of the best stories, as well as her own, into a nice little instruction manual of sorts for people like me to read and learn from.
I've laughed a lot already partly because she's humorous, but also because I've already seen some similarities between what I'm reading and what I'm experiencing from 8 to 4:30 every day. It's a really fun read, and I highly recommend it...even if you're not an administrative assistant right now because odds are...you will be at some point. :)
Also, there's a quiz after the first couple chapters that you can take to find out which TV assistant you're most like and I'm very proud to announce that I am Pam Beesly, everybody!
Being as big of a fan of The Office as I am, how can I not be happy about that??
